Alphablots are playful greetings cards and gifts for kids and colour-loving grown ups, created by designer and illustrator, Sarah Lewis.
Where it all began
Sarah created Alphablots when her friends started having kids and she couldn't find gender neutral gifts with a bright enough palette to satisfy her love of colour. She developed her style in the screen-printing studio, working with overprints, intersecting shapes and three trusty pots of ink – cyan, magenta and yellow. Combining a love of letterforms with a commitment to bringing colour and fun to the formal constraints of typography, the original Alphablots were a series of illustrated letters.
Since then, Alphablots has expanded to include greetings cards, pin badges, gift wrap, keyrings and art prints, all sharing the crisp lines and crazy bright colours of the original project.
Alphablots is a one size fits all kind of place so there are no separate ranges for boys and girls. From the outset Sarah tried to ensure all the designs were as open and inclusive as possible. The motto around here is "If you like it, it’s for you!" and you'll find cards for all occasions, from 100th birthdays to LGBTQ+ weddings.
Proudly made in the UK
Sarah used to screenprint all of the posters by hand. It was a labour of love and an excellent way to build biceps, but it became impossible to keep up with demand so we set about finding people who could work with us to produce the products.
Everything is made within the UK and we intend to keep it that way. Currently the keyring fasteners and threads for the xmas decorations come from abroad. If anyone knows someone manufacturing these send them our way - we're looking for UK-based alternatives.
We still have the occasional limited-run screenprinted items for sale so keep an eye on Insta where we announce them.

Sustainable paper sources
As a paper-based company there are very real environmental implications to the business.
We've looked into recycled stocks but it is actually harder to trace the origins of the trees when using recycled pulps. Because of this we use FSC-certified paper and wood, produced from well-managed forests which are being conserved for future generations.
All of the work is printed digitally, which eliminates the need for printing plates. The digital print process is also more efficient than traditional litho printing, requiring less energy and toxic chemicals and producing far less waste paper. Find out more here.
Plastic free - happy days!
We hate unnecessary packaging and do our best to keep it to a minimum whilst making sure your products get to you in perfect condition.
The postage tubes do not use plastic lids and so are 100% recyclable, the tape is recyclable paper and you won’t find polystyrene peanuts in an Alphablots box.
Cards and prints are available in bio-degradable PLA wraps to wholesale customers when they are needed to protect the products on the shop floor .
Parcels are sent first class using Royal Mail, please allows 3-5 working days for delivery. If you buy more than one item they will be sent together and you will only pay the postage and packaging costs for the larger item. If you wish to send things to more than one address please add one item to your cart at a time and check out separately.
